I have never shot with the Nikon 24-70 but my most recent lens purchase was the Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 VC which I use with my D7000. I had to return my first copy because it was very soft across the whole image. The second copy is fantastic! One of my best photography investments ever.

Sharp, excellent focus, and great color rendition. It is thick and heavy but is a perfect match for my gripped D7000. I can see how it would be huge on a smaller body without a grip.

I am really happy I picked it up.

I just got my replacement lens from Tamron this copy is so much better than my first copy of the 24-70, I find it is very sharp and great image quality on my D600 and also a great focal range on my D7100. My favourite lens by far now.

I've read about this issue with tamron 24-70 lens many times. I have recently brought this lens from adorama.

However i am new to this field, and incapable to identify if my copy of the lens has this issue or not.

How can i find out if this issue persists with my lens? Can i upload some sample shots for people to see?

You have several other lenses besides the Tamron. Do the pictures you take with the Tamron look OK? Are they about as sharp as the ones you take with your 18-140? If so, you're out of the woods.

The problem with sample shots is that it's hard to eliminate all the possible causes of poor sharpness; did you focus correctly? Did the camera move during exposure? So, in general, assume your lens is OK unless the results prove otherwise.

My personal experience with Tamron lenses has been poor.
