Re: Ricoh, where are new lenses?

Since when is the 17-70 discontinued? That's a great lens.

Also, if you think of the 18-55WR as a different lens from the regular 18-55, why don't you use the same standard for the 55-300WR?

That said, I do agree that the lens situation is not very good. None of the more recent Tamrons have been released for Pentax. Meanwhile, we have al kinds of 35mm-ish lenses, not more than half a stop apart and certainly not faster than the "godlike" FA 31 Ltd. Meanwhile, Nikon has a cheap 35mm at f/1.8. I'd like Ricoh to resolve this 35mm situation as follows:
- Replace the FA31 with a new DA* 35/1.4 as the new performance benchmark
- Make the DA35/2.4 a DA35/2.0
- Discontinue the FA35/2
- Keep the DA35/2.8 since it's a macro
- Maybe even discontinue the DA40/2.8

Then you have a clear lens line up and you can use the extra production capacity for new lenses in different ranges, like a 24mm 2.0.
