Question about m4/3 pixel density

I just love cameras and mathematics and I had this thought last month:

If m4/3 format (17x13mm) had a FF sensor (36x24mm) how many mega pixels would its sensor have in order to get the same pixel density as the latest crop of m4/3 cameras (16Mp)?

The obvious answer is 64 Mp because full frame sensors are roughly 4 times the surface of m4/3 sensors.

So how come there are no 64Mp full frame sensors? Are the m4/3 sensors too dense in pixels? Can they eventually reach 20 or 24 Mp without loosing too much quality in rendering images?

Does this makes sense to anyone?

Thanks for any thought or extrapolation on this.
