Much prefer 1st shot but how is this relevant for a holiday?

Hi Roland,

I much prefer the 1st shot due to its shallower DOF giving a more 3d look, albeit at the expense of lost detail in the said background of course - so I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve, is it an artistic effect, or do you want to just document reality?

With no info it is impossible to tell whether the difference is caused by cameras, and/or lenses.  The 1st shot looks more like a DSLR or good mirrorless coupled to a "fast" (large aperture) lens.  The 2nd shot looks more like what my iPhone would deliver - actually a bit less good than what my iPhone would deliver.

But may I ask, how is this relevant for a vacation?  Unless of course you plan to only photograph flowers up close and personal?

Guys, if its not too much trouble, I wondered if you might just help me out here. I"ve posted two shots, taken with different cams and wondered which you prefer,, I'm trying to decide which cams to take on holiday, which one to leave behind etc,,,,,,,,,

I"ve saved then both as "save for web", so hopefully there will be no info to "influence" your choice.

Just a simply 1 or 2 please.

Thanks in advance,,,,
