I've always bemoaned the fact that cameras don't have any sort of scripting tools.   One of the reasons I really liked my Canon A650 was the "CHDK" hack which included the capability of controlling the camera via a script written in BASIC.   And some of the early Kodak DSLRs had scripting capability, too.

It sounds like Sony is going forward with the idea of "camera apps".   But I'd rather have a scripting language that lets me do whatever I want.   I guess I'm a bit of a software "motie".
