I bet if the OP used a flashlight on the 100-400 it would show dust as well since it has a reputation for being a dust pump but at those focal lengths nobody cares nor discusses it that much.....

I once spotted a tiny reflective particle behind the rear element of the 100f/2.8L macro which got my attention since I was selling it and listed it as a pristine 10+. The sliver of a particle only showed up at certain angles when it reflected light so I used a small Maglite to determine what it was. Only then did I observe several other pieces "floating" behind other inner elements, but to the naked eye they were invisible so I let it go. Canon described them as "shavings" during lens assembly which are not uncommon and didn't affect IQ.
