They are some some pretty astonishing examples of dumbfounding user interface choices in Olympus cameras' menus. One of them (and I still can't believe they' haven't corrected it yet since it probably wouldn't be much of a hassle) is the only example of a photography-related double negative I can think of : the option to turn on or off stabilisation in continuous shooting mode. It's called "Burst mode + IS OFF", and then you can choose between "ON" and "OFF", meaning that to actually turn the stabilisation ON in burst mode, you have to select the option "OFF". That's needlessly confusing.

But I don't recall particularly enjoying Panasonic's menus when I used their cameras either.

So that particular "issue", which is already somewhat famous and to which everybody should be able to get used to,

I believe that I shouldn't have to get used to to something that's both badly conceived and very easy to fix in a jiffy. Doesn't mean that I can't, I just mean that I shouldn't.

and which nobody would change often,

Most likely indeed.

could make you not buying a camera

I don't believe I wrote this. In fact my first digital SLRs were Olympus' 4/3 cameras, at a time when their menus were even worse.

with otherwise excellent ergonomics and handling?

That I would contest, but it's rather because I think every camera on the market today has rather poor handling and ergonomics. Relatively speaking I rather like Olympus' cameras.

About every menu system as its issues.

Some more than others. Perhaps the constant moaning about Olympus menus in almost all reviews under the sun is exaggerated, but all exaggerations are born out of some truth, otherwise they couldn't be exaggerations.

Really, it is more a habit to bash Olympus menus than it is an "issue".

A few days ago I spent 20 minutes trying to find how to switch off the auto review setting in the E-M1 in a store. Which is more than the time it took me to entirely configure my 5DIII for the first time (which was my first Canon camera).

But perhaps I'm just totally stupid, who knows ?

Anyway, this was just one example among others where Olympus could easily please more people with very little cost or effort.
