Re: But look at the lens prices of other systems too!

Optical stabilization in short FLs is a marketing hype. With 1.8 lenses, even more.

I seriously doubt that one can prove its effectiveness in normal usage for a 35mm 1.8f lens by a skilled photographer.

The Nikkor 35mm 1.8G is 196 USD. It is known to be very good.

Even Pentax, famous for their high priced lenses, has a 35mm 2.4 lens for 181 USD.

Sony has the DT for 193 USD.

So why does the SEL 35mm go for 398 USD?

And why does the FE go for 798USD???

Just because it is prettier? Or because NEX users are known to  be posers and will pay for the blue badge?

Frankly, I prefer to pay 99 USD for my Sigma 30mm 2.8.

It is not that pretty, it rattles, it is not the fastest lens on earth, but it gets the job done in spades. And if I use it on the A7, then I have a 37mm 2.8f after cropping a little. The 2mm won't hurt that much and I can use my 798 USD to go on vacation to a nice place and actually put the Sigma to good use.
