Re: Using NEX-5, concerned about feel of a6000

If you want a big heavy camera there are plenty out there. The Nex/A6000 are not it.

The A6000 has the following benefits.

  • The A6000 is heavier by 16g (269g vs. 285g)
  • A6000 has a built in flash
  • A6000 has a built in view finder.
  • More focus points 179 vs. 25
  • Better noise performance (1347 ISO vs 1079 ISO)
  • Bigger sensor 24mpix vs. 16mpix
  • More Dynamic range 13.1ev vs. 12.7ev
  • Better Auto focus
  • Better color depth 24.1 vs 23.6
  • A better menu system
  • Configurable controls

The NEX5 has

  • Touch screen
  • Better battery life 460 vs 420 shots
  • Slightly smaller and lighter

The fact is the A6000 has a ton of modern features that make it a much better shooting camera. The touchscreen is the only feature listed that I consider a potential advantage of the 5n.

As for feel the owners have the weight wrong so they are confused. If you want a heavy camera there are plenty of DSLR that will fill the bill!
