45mm F/2.8 pancake lens--I just bought it, now what?

Not from what I'm seeing. Every small AF-D lens Nikon has replaced has gotten significantly larger with the addition of AF-S. Just look at the 35 f/1.8 v. the 35 f/2 it replaces.

Maybe Nikon just likes using more material to build these lenses?

If Nikon went ahead and doubled the size of the 45/2.8P to update the optics and give it AF capability it would still be very compact . . .
