Some low light wildlife shots from a short hike in the canyon (SX50)

It rained all night and most of the day. I wasn't able to get up to the canyon until mid evening.

The light was terrible, and all of the following pictures were taken in the shadow of the mountains.

A couple of marmots eating dandelions in a small meadow.

The big marmot of the group.

A mule deer in the woods. I probably saw about 20 deer, this was the best shot I was able to get of one.

A singing meadowlark

Another view.

I met this young coyote on the trail. I was going down he was coming up. He kindly left the trail for me.

He jumped up a few feet up the hill above the trail and proceeded to watch me take pictures of him.

I must have gotten 20 shots of him. I had to change my battery about half way through the encounter. He kindly hung around while I changed it.

He made himself more comfortable and sat down while I changed the battery.

Full zoom to get this one. He eventually got board with me, jumped back down to the trail behind me and went on his way.

I realize these are not crystal clear wall hangers, but for the poor lighting they were taken in I think they turned out well.
