Under the circumstances (no pro looking cameras) I think those shots are probably about as good as one could expect.

The RX 100 ii has what I would call active image stabilization like that of a video camera. SO not only in video mode but in still mode the Sony works well.  I also bought the Revo 3" hand grip that screws to the bottom of the camera. It has a little bit of weight so you do not have to hold the small camera.

In addition, I bought the Richard Franiec hand grip, much better than the Sony OEM product.

In short, the aperture in this situation (day time) this camera would have been fine.

OR take the Sony RX 10.  Same sensor but larger camera but not interchangeable lens. That may have worked as well.
