Older DP2 or DP2s for black and white use?

Hi Folks, would one of the older (and now inexpensive) DP2, 2s, or 2x models be a good way to experiment with the benefits of the foveon sensor for black and white work? I am returning to b&w more and more, and the Leica Monochrom is a bit (big bit) beyond the budget. My use:  architecture, urban decay, urban, tripod-mounted when possible.  Any suggestions on the Sigmas?  Thanks!
