Can you help me out understanding the RX1 Smart TC?

How are you?

I am interested in an RX1, now that the prices are nicer...

I read the lens and sensor combo is legendary and produces stunning results.

One thing that worries me is that I am looking for a general everyday and travel camera, practical and that doesn't get in the way of me enjoying the trips and walks.

For that, the RX1 seems perfect.

But I also like to take portraits of family and friends, and for that, I fear the 35mm FL might be limiting...

I was reading on the web and came across the RX1's smart Teleconverter.

From what I read, It crops the center part of the sensor and gives me a 70mm focal length.

How does it work? DOes it give good quality? Is it just like using and framing with a 70mm lens?

Does it work in practice like using a 35mm f2 lens on a m43 camera? Where the field of view becomes 70mm and the DOF aperture f4?

Can you please post some samples of thr RX1 using this option?

Thank you!
