Olympus acknowledges E-M5 / 20mm banding and is working on fix

http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/06/12/Olympus-acknowledges-OM-D-E-M5-banding-with-panasonic-20mm-f1-7-lens

'After checking every possible combination of a body and a lens, we found the phenomena only with this combination (OM-D, E-M5 coupled with the Panasonic 20mm pancake lens). We are continuing to study how we can eliminate this and we recommend for our customers using E-M5 with Panasonic 20mm pancake lens to keep a low ISO to avoid this problem for the time being.'

Believe some anonymous poster who goes by s_grins or believe the engineers at Olympus. Hmm, simple.

Don't know if you meant to reply to me or someone else. I didn't post any example and don't know which other example your comments refer to.

Olympus gives the answer, keep your iso lower...the example above:

1) Is cropped 800x600

2) Is Not from E-M5 (I thought banding ONLY happened with E-M5)??

No. It happens with all bodies having the same sensor as the E-M5. In other words: E-M5, E-PM2, E-PL5, E-P5, E-M10, and GH3.

3) Is iso 6400...suggest 3200

4) Not a good shot or sharp or anything

Not all my shots are keepers, but I have a lot that I like from the E-M5 and Pany 20/1.7

So have I. I am happy to own and use this lens but I'd be still happier if it didn't have any problems with banding on my E-M5. Fortunately, I just bought myself an E-M1, and I hope/think I won't see any problems with banding when using the lens on my new body.
