You'd think so, wouldn't you? In reality, however, even though multiple people have quoted this excerpt from the GH3 manual to s_grins on multiple occasions over many months, he still likes to argue that the banding is a myth. I even shared a screen shot of the statement with him some time ago, to no avail. Here it is:

Anyone who can read the above official  statement and still argue that the banding is a myth is suspect.
