Re: GAS, personal choices and compromises

I compromise even further than you do.  I will not carry large heavy cameras at all, and I like to carry a camera at all times even when not travelling, so I am restricted to the smaller models.

At one time I had been convinced by the nonsemse talked on these forums to buy a 'enthusiast camera', so when I retired I was given a samsung EX1 as a gift, which was ok but after lugging it around in a large belt bag for a couple of years I said that's enough I will but even smaller.

So I got a SX260 superzoom for a trip to Vietnam and loved it, but found that I on;y occasionally used the long end of the zoom, and as I wanted to get a backup camera that produced similair looking images I decided to go even smaller and bout a IXUS255/ELPH330.

What a revelation this size reduction process has been for me, the little ELPH is amazing and completely unobtrusive to carry.

I try to control the GAS issue also, buy buying any model about one year after release while still available but at rock bottom prices (for Australia).

I am happy with my spending and am happy with my set of compromises.

Brian
