Spent a night deep in the desert in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Took a few star pictures late at night, lighting the ground with my Metz AF 50 handheld. I used my Sigma 10-20 wide open at 10mm f4. Kinda getting interested in the Samyang 10mm f2.8 for these kinds of things!!!

ISO 3200, f4, 10mm 30s.

So, what is with the darker star field region in the center?   Like inverse vignetting?   I've seen an effect with some lenses where the peripheral blurring makes the stars appear brighter ( because they cover more pixels ) than the ones in the center.

Or was this on a alt-az mount so you might get some rotation?

Perhaps I'm just imagining it.

I'm done interrogating.     Its a very nice shot.
