Serious thinking of the Pentax 645 or shall wait? Locked

Like has been said if you have the money you, or anyone else, would be crazy NOT to buy the new Pentax 645Z. It is what it is for a reason. It is a pretty BIG step above your Canon MkIII.

I have owned about every camera they have made over the years both film and digital, and there has NEVER been any substitute for a larger film size or sensor size. It would be a pretty darn good fit for your needs.

But I am going to put a fly in the evasion. I know this sounds crazy but for what you are doing photography wise a Sigma DP1 Merrill may get the job done for under 600 dollars lens and all. They are scary sharp cameras that are on par with the same workflow that the Pentax is. I know the MP's are less but they are razor sharp. Something that helps with what you want to shoot. Might be worth a try.

I know my Sigma DP2 Merrill puts my Canon 5D MkII to shame on landscape shots.
