And here's the catch - it would be nice, but it would also compete (internally) with the other systems - with the K-mount. We're talking about at least a camera (for starting), several lenses (others to follow as fast as possible) and that theoretical adapter; they could give you that, but only by making other K-mount users unhappy.

We are perceiving them as moving at snail pace, yet we're asking to add a brand new system to their line-up? It's better if they won't stretch their resources too thin.

Yeah, and there are more catches.

It is not likely that Pentax wants to make a mirror less. It is not likely that it is a good idea. But .... if they made one (that is good and has a serious K mount compatibility) then I would be happy.

Note also - that the compatibility is not enough. The mirror less camera needs to have a good grip. A very good grip. Otherwise the giant K-mount lenses will make it awkward to use the combination.

Sure, that's one of those catches. Legacy lenses -> good grip -> larger camera; build your MILC for comfortable use of legacy lenses and it won't be as small as the competition, or make it small and compact and usage of legacy lenses would be a awkward.

There's no "one size must fit all".
