if a Camera is good i have no problem if it takes a while to have a newer version..but 4 years and 8 months and no upgrade insight is propablly the longest in Canon histroy in the semi pro line.

What makes you say that? F-1 was manufactured for 10 years, nF-1 for 10-12. EOS-1v was introduced 14 years ago and still available. And the list goes on.

To be fair, it's a bit of an apples vs. oranges comparison. The turnover of technology in those days was very gradual. Cameras and other types of equipment were around for a pretty long time before they were updated or replaced. As electronics became a much larger part of the heart of a camera and the world (well most of it) went digital, the replacement rate shot up astronomically. The xxD cameras were replaced like clockwork at 18 months for a long time (Rebels even more rapidly). So, thinking that nearly 5 years for a 7D seems really long is not at all off base IMHO -- it is a long time. It's even pretty long for an xD series camera, let alone the lower end models.

I think many people expected the 7D replacement cycle to be longer than its predecessors, however, some of the technology in the 7D is seriously aging (the sensor in particular) and it's high time that Canon either declares that high end crop is dead or ponies up with a replacement.

"..... and it's high time that Canon either declares that high end crop is dead ...."

Why declare it dead and thus create a self fulfilling prophesy? Better to say nothing surely and let it do whatever it will do. Certainly while the 7D is still selling.

Hopefully the latter.
