This is a smart analysis - thanks!

No matter how elaborated an analysis is presented if it's basic premises are flawed the whole analysis is - and in this case the basic premises that price point outweighs/overrides any photographic features/uses the 7D and 6D do or don't posess is completely screwed up...

Canon is making decisions based on business - not making a small group of 7D enthusiasts happy. Deal with it.

Small group? I don't recall 7D sales struggling for the many years its been on the market, and what's more, it continues to sell in spite of its age. Perhaps you can share your data on the size of that segment and why it would be unattractive for Canon to replace it, or are you just guessing like everyone else here?

Karl's very valid point is that you can't judge this strictly based on price point. The features and specific target markets for these cameras also factor into the equation and can't be ignored as the earlier poster chose to do.

+1

Canon still hasn't AFAIK discontued the 7D. So Having a 7D and 70D in their productline does indicate they are aiming at different buyers. The non included AF modes in 70D and different ergo make it even more obvious.

If you'd have bought a 7D in 2009, it would have been one of the best wastes of money of all time.

With a reasonable (sellable) shuttercount you'd lose about $200 a year. Not bad in the land of technology.
