I usually set my XS-1 to "P" mode,DR400,-1/3 exposure,on "vivid",and "M" resolution,and let the camera get on with it,which works well for general photos.

It's silly to write off a great camera because you're taking photos of white ducks on water,which needs spot metering for a start,and some positive exposure compensation,otherwise a dark photograph is guaranteed!

I usually have to adjust the pictures slightly in "Picasa",but the colours are great,and to slag of the XS-1 because you don't know how to use it is shortsighted,to say the least.

I also have a Sony 24mp A65,a great SLR,but it tends to underexpose,but a bit of correction is all that's needed,either on the camera,or in your imaging program.

Cameras just need a bit of help now and then!
