Cameras are just tools, but they can also become a very personal friends and a very integral part in helping us express who we are, in the way we want to express ourselves to the world. So the best ones are the ones we get to know, and how to work with them before, during, and after the exposure. But also keeping in mind that we can also have different friends with different qualities, and it is always nice to make new friends to explore the possibilities.

This is a truly excellent comment, beautifully stated.  Cameras are an outlet for our creativity, this buoys us up and cheers us up, we look to the camera both for tranquility and for adventure, and an escape from the cares of everyday life, and a feeling that we have created something. In those sensed, a camera can indeed be a friend.

It seems to me that in post-processing, we are trying to recover the lost joys of putting a roll of film through the developer and the fixer and watching the images magically emerge.
