I think it's pretty clear Canon already replaced the 7D. It's called the 6D.

We photographers tend to think in terms of features that define a camera. Trouble is, the marketing types think in dollars. There probably isn't really enough room in the lineups of Canon or Nikon to make a camera that will be within a few dollars of a 6D or D610, but have a smaller sensor.

It was clear a few years ago that most advanced enthusiasts (ie: 7D and D300s customers) were hoping their next camera would have a full-frame sensor, and the advantages that brings. Nikon and Canon obliged - and sure enough, I see guys who had D90's or 60D's now walking around with the full frame models.

Sure, there's a more than a few wildlife enthusiasts to moan about the loss of the built-in 1.5 or 1.6 crop factor, but probably not enough who would really make it worthwhile to develop new almost $2,000 APS-C models. In fact, I bet the marketing guys know exactly how many there are, or aren't.
