Roger, sorry you are struggling with the FZ70. It took me a long time to warm up to it. Had to learn to live with it's relative sparse features and image softness. I've reduced NR to -2 and then do NR in pp. And in general, I find this camera likes a higher shutter speed than the FZ200. Though I'm pleased with this camera, I am looking forward to getting the FZ200 replacement.

I really like that Chameleon or whatever it is. At ISO 800, I think it looks good. Love Shrikes! That is a very cool bird. We have a different Shrike here, one I rarely see and never get close to.

Hiya Vickie,

I think I was spoilt too much by the ease in which I could use the FZ150 + LT55 effectively in shooting birds, even without fiddling with NR/SH. Perhaps it's not fair for me to compare the 2 cameras considering the price difference and lack of a Leica lens.

In the beginning I thought I had a faulty sample since I couldn't get a single focussed shot of any bird at 215mm, even with the smallest focus square. I kept getting leaves and branches in front and at the back, sharp. But later I realised that it does focus correctly some of the time and have decided to hang onto it for a while more. At least I can use it for macro which means I don't need to lug my Canon DSLR around on my wildlife jaunts.
