Here are a few reasons to get LR. There are probably many more.

LR is better at as well as easier to use for making prints than PS.

Yes, but if you add Qimage, it is better still for printing.

LR is a great DAM program.

Only if you want to use one.

LR edits non-destructively.

So does Adobe Camera RAW.

LR doesn't create monster edited files like PS can.

That's the price of pixel editing. Lr doesn't do it.

LR is fast and can do most photo edits.

True, if you don't want to use pixel editing. Suspect those doing portraits would be hard pressed to do everything in Lr.

Wow, is this argument getting old:-)

Yes, it will go on forever as long as Adobe chooses to offer us such a mixed bag of products. Without considering the DAM aspect, and just photographic image editing capability, I would suggest a hierarchy in order of functionality as follows:

1. CC + Lr

2. CC

3. Elements + Lr

4. Elements

5. Lr

And if Adobe would offer us an Elements+ version that was full 16 bit and included the full PS version of ACR, then it would bump up to #3 position.
