Hi,

Great review.

Like you I'm pondering about which to buy next.

To date the Canon SX50 has bad problems with the skin irritation 're-calls' so that's out for me. I'm waiting to see reviews/photos taken with the SX60?

I had a Panasonic FZ62 which after initial 'menu' problems also sometimes the zoom never returned to zero unless I turned it off then on again so I returned it for a refund. That puts me off any other Panasonic.

Also after researching Fuji, Samsung etc also reportedly with problems I was pleased to see Olympus (I'm using an old 1 now, my previous shorter Zoom before the Pana that I've had for donkeys years without problems & I might add the picture quality is superb, superior to the FZ62, it just lacks decent video. My opinion is that Olympus makes better lenses?

To sum up it simply depends if Olympus 100-EE or Canon SX60 takes better pictures, also of course price because I can't afford a $1000 outfit!

If you get any of your pics published here please let me know.

Thanks

Hi,

I had another look at the cameras. For the ultimate megazooms I felt the Olympus sp-100e didn't quite do as well as the canon sx50 and Nikon P600 for image quality in less good light conditions (overcast, indoors etc). I felt the noise appeared sooner and finer details went a bit more smudgee. It did focus well indoors better than the Nikon p600. Canon would of fixed the skin irritation problems on the sx50 by now. For the 30 x zooms between the canon sx700 and Nikon s9700 I would go with the canon sx700. I think I am now choosing between the canon sx50, Nikon p600 or p530 also waiting for the new canon sx60 before deciding. One more month to go.

Cheers

Steve.
