I understand there is no problem with the camera, and that a larger sensor is able to render a better amount of detail.
The horizon at 100% viewing shows over-sharpening, but the trees are mush -
Well said, life is too short and you only live once, get something that you will be proud of and enjoy yourself, your worth it!!!
You are a bit off topic for this thread. Yes I agree with what you say, it is a well known fact about better cameras and larger sensors.
Do you not agree that some small sensor cameras render detail better than others. Kev
Yes Kev... some render detail slightly better than others, but none do better than 'Just OK' and only viewed at very small size or printed very small. I see so many pictures of landscapes, birds, cats from 1/2.3" superzoom on this forum. When viewed at 100% they all look like mush with no fine detail way too much noise at anything over base ISO. There are some people that can get more detail than others, but only about 5% (or so) seem to be able to do it. I took a few good pictures many years ago with my trusty old Sony DHC-5H of the Miami zoo which came out OK, IMHO. But it only had 7.2 MP and a very good 12x zoom lens. Now, they have crammed way too many MP in the sensors and have way too much zoom with lessor quality lenses, to make them so cheap.
What I'm trying to say is that if a person has a real passion for photography, can carry a few more ounces, they can get much less 'mushy' images for not that much more money. I think the very cheap, all plastic, toy like 1/2.3" superzoom are great for kids learning and can't afford anything better. But, for adults that are aspiring photographers who are discriminating and want better, it's best to get the right tools for the right jobs.
Now you're way way off topic. I agree with your first paragraph and it makes sense, but what is your second paragraph all about, it makes no sense at all. I'm holding back here and not trying to be rude but are you just trying to wind me up?
Kev
My SH-50 does the jobs I bought it for - and for Gannets In Flight and the moon, the red dot sight in the SP-100EE would make life a lot easier. But neither is good for serious landscape stuff.
