Even in cheap Canon compact one can activate gridlines. Is there an option for 1000D?

If screen is changed-if ever there is one with gridlines-what will be the effect for the focus-points. Will they totally disappear or popup but with no aim on the special screen?

hope this helps ...

Like the compact cameras, a grid can be displayed on the rear monitor when shooting in Live View.  There is not a grid display available for the optical viewfinder, but you can use the array of focus points to level the composition.  And the 4 focus points in the middle of each diagonal are close to the "rule of thirds" intersects.
