CHDK is better than nothing. I used it before in my Canon S5 IS, back in the days, but it's no replacement to a true RAW support. Photos will appear with no correction at all in the RAW converter, and you'd have with such a big zoom to fit a profile to each focal. The performance of the camera could suffer because the processor wasn't meant for RAWS. I'd still prefer seeing Canon provide RAW in its next superzoom.

owning a Nikon D600 with a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 VC, and a bunch of Nikon primes, a Nikon J1 but not particularly a Nikon fanboy, since I have an Olympus E-PL5, a Panasonic GX7, a Sony RX10 and a Canon S110 too!
