Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 28-90/2.8-4.5 ASPH on D800e?
Is anyone here using this lens on the D800e? Or on any Nikon full frame camera? I'm wondering how easy it is to focus, with the Leitex mod. Is there a green light when focus is achieved, as with the Zeiss T* lenses? If so, is this a reliable indicator of focus?
I am currently using this lens on my Sony A7r and am getting excellent results. Very sharp across the frame at all FLs, at least at the F8-11 I use. Noticeably better than the Tamron 24-70 F2.8 VC lens that I have for the Nikon, which is supposed to be better than Nikon's on 24-70. Sharper across the entire frame, better micro-contrast, and less distortion.
However, I prefer the D800e results to the A7r. The RAW files are just cleaner, less noise, especially above ISO 200. Hence I'm thinking about swapping my R mount lens for one that has been modified for Nikon. (I could still use it on my A7r with my Novoflex Nikon adapter.)
Here are recent examples from this lens on the A7r:
