Bought d5200 and paranoid about battery

So I bought this d5200 as brand new, boxed etc. Everything has been fine except for the battery performance. I leave VR off on the lens and I take a couple movies, couple images, and the battery is flat. I've had to charge it up at least 3 times before in a day.

How do I test to make sure this isn't all in my head? How many photos do similar users take before the battery goes dead?

It's just so strange, because it's as if the battery is draining when I'm not using it. It's the official battery, even with the shiny sticker on from nikon, but I'm not 100% it's OK and/or it's been counterfeited somehow.

So, can anyone who has this camera, or similar (d7100, d3200, etc) tell me:

1. how long their camera keeps charge when off

2. how long camera lasts when the power switch is left on but not used

3. how many pictures it can take

4. how much video footage can be taken

Thanks a lot. If I find out that mine is very lower than average I'll look into buying a replacement battery.

p.s. the firmware was updated when I got the camera to 1.02 (which is the latest on nikon site).
