maybe this is more helpful, shot with about the same subject, taken in the exact circumstances.

a6000+kitlens at ISO3200, f9, slow shutter speed but I can assure you there's not motion blur (taken with tripod)


rx100 at ISO800, f1.8 (so wide open), 1/25sec (also on tripod)


I know this isn't exactly the most scientific lens, but the RX100 is a LOT sharper towards the left/right even wide open, while the NEX was taken with the aperture set to f9. I also resized the picture of the a6000 to math the RX100 resolution.

This can't be right, can it?

btw: it's not that I went looking for faults, but it occured to me that when shooting my kids face straight at the camera, that even at f5.6 or higher, the right eye was very very sharp, while the left eye was not. this seems consistent.

Color scheme? Blue / Yellow
