Which size filter to get for new 60D and lenses

Hi, I recently purchased a Canon 60D and 18-135mm kit lens (67mm filter). I also bought the 40mm pancake f/2.8 (52mm filter) and the 85mm f/1.8 (58mm filter).

I need some advice on whether to buy a circular polariser and UV filter's for either of these lenses, which would benefit from them more?

I was also thinking whether to just get the largest size filter and then buy some step-up adapters so the filter fits all of my lenses, but then I couldn't use a lens hood if I needed to? :/

Which of these lenses benefits from a lens hood also?

I am also planning to get the 70-300 f/4.0-5.6 IS USM

and either the; EF 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM (filter size:77mm) or the EF 28mm f/1.8 USM (58mm filter) Would it be better to just buy say the 77mm filters and step-up rings for each other size?

Any help would be much appreciated!
