D300 and D610/D800 for wildlife safari

Currently I'm using a D300 + AF-S 17-35/2.8D ED-IF,  AF-S 70-200/2.8G ED-IF VR, AF-S 200-400mm/4G ED-IF VR.

My next trip will focus on Wildlife Safari (Namibia) and I want to add a second body - D610 or D800. What's the better choice (in combination with my D300)?

  • Are D300/D610 too similiar?
  • Which AF of these three bodies would be best for birds in the sky or fast moving animals?

On the long run I want to replace the D300 and have two (new) main bodies D610/D800 and ???.
