Would you find a "locked" metering mode feature useful?

Lately I have been shooting in manual mode, because I like having the exposure locked in, but sometimes I wish I could press a button for it to take a reading & automatically set the shutter speed.

Basically, the idea is a one-button, temporary Aperture priority mode.  That way, I don't have to spin the speed wheel 5 revolutions when I've got a new lighting situation.  Hit one button, bam - uses aperture priority mode to choose the right speed automatically, then reverts back to full manual.
