After looking at your gallery images I think the D610 will suit you very well. I do not really understand the comment on the D610 vs D7100.

I have D610, D7100, and others. My D300s got killed . I can get it repaired for a pretty big chunk of change but too many clicks to make it worthwhile but I am really missing it for BIF and daytime sport. I do not think there will be a D400 Have to wait and see what the D9300 is. I never had to worry about fine tuning the 13MP cameras but the D7100 and , to lessor extent, the D610 need fine tuning on the longer lenses.

I may buy a new D300s if the next generation of Nikons do not suit me. Can't afford a D4S .

Enjoy your new camera

Well you know walking around with a camera is also " feel" more than only objective data.I always felt ok with the D300 en D300s (coming from smaller Pentax). I had the same " feel" with D610 , not with the D7100.I also looked to the D700 but although that camera gave me the same ok feel, for two reasons I decided for the D610 1 the D700 is almost 6 years old now and 2 the camera is unrealistic expensive in the used market over here in Holland (my humble opinion) the difference between a well used D700 (50 k clicks) and a new D610 was less than €500.
