Shooting the Moon

Was fortunate enough to have a clear and still night last night with low humidity (due to the below freezing temperatures). So, I tried my hand at shooting last night's celestial event. Shots below are before, during partial eclipse stage and at full eclipse. DA 55-300 was used, so these are heavily cropped. For the first two shots I focused using live view. The final was too dark for live view to lock on with my old K-5, so had to settle for less accurate conventional AF for it (which shows I believe). Regardless, I think that overall, they're not too bad especially considering the lack of lens reach. Feel free to C&C if you like.

9:46 pm before the excitement.

1:36 am partial eclipse.

The Blood Moon at 2:07 am.
