Blurred water - good or bad?

Recently I have been having a discussion with a fellow FZ200 photographer on Flickr re blurring of water in waterfalls. I had never tried it, but an opportunity arose over the last weekend to do just that. Below are two images of the same waterfall. One taken at 1/6 sec shutter speed and the other taken at 1/400 second. You can see the difference. A lot of photographers really like the blurred water effect, I'm ambivalent about it. What are your thoughts?

1/6 sec shutter speed.

1/400 second shutter speed.
