Tamron 70-200mm VS USD focus issues
Hello! I recently picked up a Tamron 70-200mm VS USD lens to use on my 6D. I've noticed that at 70mm the focus is slightly off. I ran it through FoCal and got a MFA number of +6 at 70mm. This value seems okay if my subject is within 10 ft. If the subject is beyond that, the subject is slightly out of focus again. Using contrast detect will produce a tack sharp image however. Getting something far away to appear in focus requires a MFA value of -3.
At the long end of the lens there are no such issues. It's quite sharp no matter the subject distance. I am using a MFA of -3 at 200mm. I also own a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens. I've experienced no focus issues whatsoever with it.
Is this normal behavior for the Tamron or do I have a dud is what I'm wondering. Anyone else shoot with this lens?
