New FX travel lens for Nikon D610

Hello guys,

I have finally registered here, after a long time reading this great forum through and I would appreciate your help.

I have sold my D7000 and got a D610 to enter a FX world with new options regarding lenses. I have already own 80-200 2.8D and 50mm 1.8D, which I can both use on FX no problem.

I mostly use my camera on travel / landscape / street photography or events but currently I don't do any studio or portrait photography. On the D7000, I used to use 18-105mm, which has been alright for a kit lens and I liked the zoom without changing lenses to much - dust / rain etc.

I have analysed my pictures using Lightroom showing I have very often used both ends of my lens 18 (24mm equivalent) and 105 (157mm equivalent). I'm already covered on the long end with my 80-200mm 2.8D but I'm looking either for A) a general zoom such as 24-85 or B) a wide-angle lens such as 18-35mm etc.

My dilemma is that with a general mid-range zoom I won't be wide enough as on many occasions I have felt that I could use a wider lens. On the other hand, if I get a wide-angle only, I will have quite a few focal length gaps from 35mm to 50mm, 50mm to 80mm.

Also, I am currently quite restricted on budget, can dedicate probably around £500 for the lens. I don't mind older lenses, if there is life and quality in them or 3rd party lens.

Based on the information and purpose, what would be your suggestions to this please?

Thanks a lot,
