In my experience the extra sharpness of the 12-40 at F2.8 over the 12mm at F2 more than makes up for the extra ISO required by the difference in aperture. IQ in low light seems to be a balancing act between sharpness and ISO IMHO and the versatility of the 12-40 is hard to beat. On the other hand the small size and light weight of the 12mm F2 is an advantage in some situations.
