Hackers rarely target Operating Systems

....They target applications, services and mostly browsers. There are more likely to target Operating systems on Firewalls and Routers (cough* Cisco Phones* Cough)

This goes along with the urban myth of listening to Windows users complain some hacker got on their system and installed Spyware / Malware. No, the user did something to cause the problem.

Since Internet Explorer 8 is pretty much DOA most XP users are running FireFox or Chrome, and those browsers are fairly secure.

I encounter just as many Malware / Spyware issues on Win7 and Server 2008 as XP, and the newer operating system exploits tend to be far more severe.
