Micro Four Thirds Astrophotography part II
10

I've been doing astrophotography recently and have seen mostly dedicated CCD and Canon as the main cameras in use.  As an Olympus user I decided to use my E620 for astro work and quickly found the answer was....well no.   The four thirds sensor was just too noisy for long exposure raw imaging.  So I decided to try micro four thirds based on the new sensors and found the answer was...well yes.  The EPL-5 has been great to work with, just wish it had an intervalometer like the EP5.  But for half the price of a decent CCD I am impressed and it's so easy to use.  Here are a couple of images of galaxies taken over the last 2 weeks.  I am using subs of 1.5-2 minutes integrated for 1.5 - 3 hours of integration.  So far it's been all good.  The next step is to use 5 minute guided and stacked exposures.   Cheers

cameras are like my guitars...the output bites until you learn to use them. Then you realize it wasn't them after all.
