Thanks Herbert and Bob. I guess I was wrong in judging the pattern of horizontal lines as banding. I'm not sure what it is though, since it seems to have a structure and doesn't look arbitrary. The picture was taken in a pretty dark cinema cafe and if I were to expose according to the camera meter I would have used ISO 12800 (roughly ISO 800 + 4 stops). I guess that's a bit high for the 16MP sensor, at least in color, and I actually developed it in B&W first. I posted the colored version earlier since it shows the pattern of horizontal lines more clearly. Anyway, probably not a good illustration of the known banding issue with the 20/1.7.
