Sigma 24-105 vrs Tamron 24-70 for D800e?

Is there a clear winner here? I don't need the extra reach of the Sigma, although it would be nice. I want a midrange zoom that can give full frame, center to corner, sharpness at truly excellent levels.

From reviews:

It seems like the Sigma may be a superior lens in just about every way, and capable of excellent levels of sharpness across the entire frame at all focal lengths.  Is that right?
