Just curious if this is a one day sale - or an alert something new is upon us - either from Olympus or one its competitors. I see Sony is to announced a new 4K A7 model at NAB this Sunday.

And if you own the EM-5... should I grab this?

The B&H $799 price for an E-M5 body is not a sudden drop; that camera hasn't sold at its original list price for months. The prices for cameras usually go down the older they get, and as newer models with more features become available (such as the brand new E-M10 body for $699). Unless you really need the weather-sealed feature of the E-M5, the E-M10 is in many people's opinion a better buy.

If you do want an E-M5, Amazon has a deal right now where you can get the E-M5 body plus 12-50 lens for $999. Not a fantastic deal, but arguably better than the camera body only for $799.

E-M5 Plus 12-50 at Amazon

Both the $799 & $999 prices are Olympus discounts that end tomorrow.

I didn't mean to give the impression that I felt the price had bottomed out at $799; if I did I apologize.  Instead, I was just trying to let the OP know that prices for the E-M5 have been inching downward for months, and that the price he found probably wasn't indicative of some major new announcement that's about to break.  I'd also be willing to bet that he $799 price the OP saw isn't gone forever; it will be back (especially since the E-M10 is priced so aggressively, and the E-M1 seems to be attracting a lot of buyers as well).
