Can you do a similar comparison of C. Zoom vs digital zoom, please? Different way to get at the settings, but this would prove definitively if thy are the same thing, or not.

OK, here you go:

OOC JPEG, centre crop, no digital zoom

Digital zoom, 100% centre crop

CIZ, 100% centre crop

Bicubic upscaled RAW, 100% centre crop

Clearly the RAW image is superior, but I don't see much difference between the ooc JPEG, digital zoom and CIZ.

I'm about to go off on vacation, so won't be able to do any more of this for a while. And when I get back, I'll have lots of (RAW) images to process, which takes priority over deciding which digital zoom is better than other digital zooms, having already established that none of them beat RAW.
