Ansel Adams professional work, at least his well-known images of nature, was almost exclusively done with large format film cameras, and those don't use zoom lenses.

He apparently never used 35mm cameras professionally, although there are at least a couple of well-known 35mm images (of Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz) that Adams shot.

By the time zoom lenses were easily available for 35mm cameras, about 1959, it's doubtful Adams would have been interested in using them in any professional way, although it's fun to imagine he was interested in using them.
